Maurice commenced his career in the Nigerian Armed Forces as an Officer in the Navy and first deployment in Sierra Leone for the ECOWAS/UNAMSIL Operations in 1996.
Thereafter, Monrovia to assist in the conduct of Liberia's first elections after the long torn civil war..He held career/Command appointments onboard Nigerian Navy Ships and Establishments, amongst which included the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) ARADU; NNS AYAM; NNS SISI; Fleet Support Group WEST; Western Naval Command, amongst others. He served as Staff Officer Operations and Training at the Presidential Committee for Maritime Safety and Security (PICOMSS), commissioned to implement International guidelines for Maritime Security, (promulgated by IMO states for minimum security arrangements for ships, ports and government agencies) ; and was part of Nigeria's delegation to meetings held at the IMO.
Maurice resigned as a Lieutenant Commander in December 2006, after 15 years of Service. After resignation, he served as Consultant to the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). In December 2007 he was appointed the Head of Administration, Office of the Speaker, House of Representative, National Assembly and later Chief of Staff, House of Representatives, Nigeria, in September of 2008, a position he has served and held till date. Educational qualifications include graduate of the Nigerian Defence Academy- Bachelor of Engineering; Naval Engineering College-Weapons Engineering; University of Lagos- International Law and Diplomacy; Stanford University- Graduate School of Business. Others include Maritime Security Courses by Maritime and Underwater Security Consultants (MUSC), London in Port Facility Security Officer (PFSO);Company Security Officer and Ship Security Officer;United States Merchant Marine Academy- International Maritime Awareness and Security Course; IMO-International Maritime Security Train the Trainer; RIPA International- Strategic Management and Leadership for Administrators, .
He is a member of organizational bodies such as the International Who is Who Historical Society; United States Naval Institute (USNI); American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS); Alumni of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, amongst others.
