House: Diaspora Nigerians Want Graft Allegations Probed
From Onwuka Nzeshi in Abuja, 07.30.2010

The Nigerians in the Diaspora Organisation (NIDO)yesterday urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFFC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to conclude the probe of all allegations of corruption levelled against the leadership and members of the National Assembly.

A group of Nigerians in Diaspora drawn from the United States, United Kingdom, Singapore and China made the demand when they met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole in Abuja.

The group led by Mr. Akin Awofolaji, expressed disappointment at the spate of allegations of graft involving parliamentarians in Nigeria and wondered why investigations into such high profile cases were never concluded. In respect of the House, the delegation said it was appalling that the anti-graft agencies seemed to have abandoned the recent allegation of the mismanagement of N9billion capital vote in the House weeks after 11 lawmakers who blew the whistle were suspended.
