Bankole leads PDP team for Ekiti senatorial re-run

HOUSE of Representatives Speaker, Dimeji Bankole, has been appointed by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to lead a campaign team to Ekiti State for re-run election in Ekiti North senatorial district.

The election of Senator Ayo Arise from the zone was recently annulled by the Court of Appeal in Ilorin, Kwara State.

A statement by the PDP's National Publicity Secretary, Prof. Rufai Ahmed Alkali, yesterday in Abuja said the Speaker would lead seven other members.

The statement said: "Following the order of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for a re-run election in Ekiti North Senatorial District scheduled for August 15, 2009, the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has set up a Campaign Committee for the re-run."

The members are: Dimeji Bankole (Chairman), Senator Teslim Folarin (Vice Chairman), Chief Olusola Oke, Otunba Muyiwa Collins, Dr. S.T. Lawal, Senator Sola Akinyele, Alhaji Oladipo Tajudeen and Mrs. Olujimi Abiodun (Secretary/Member).

The committee will be inaugurated on Wednesday July 29, 2009 at 12 noon at the PDP National Secretariat.
