About the committee
(1) There shall be a Committee to be known as Committee on Women Affairs consisting of not more than 40 members appointed at the commencement of the life of the House.
(2) The Committee's jurisdiction shall cover:
- Promotion of the general welfare of women, their social, political and economic participation in all aspects of national development
- Health of women and children as well as women vocational training
- Child development
- Rehabilitation of the disabled
- Legal assistance to vulnerable segments of the society including women, the socially disabled andthe handicapped
- Relations with line Ministries, National and International Agencies and Non-Governmental Organisationsincluding the United Nations on matters concerning Women and development
- Family Support Programme
- Family Economic Advancement Programme
- National Centre for Women Development
- Youth development generally
- Youth social development matters
- Youth movement activities; and
- National Youth Service Corps
- Annual budget estimates
