About the committee
(1) There shall be a Committee to be known as Committee on Health and Human Services consisting of not more than 40 members appointed at the commencement of the life of the House.
(2) The Committee's jurisdiction shall cover:
- Specialist Hospitals
- Teaching Hospitals
- National Orthopaedic Hospitals
- National Psychiatric Hospitals
- National Eye Hospital
- National Hospital
- Federal Government Clinics
- Drug Laws
- Drug Manufacturing
- Sanitation Laws
- Food And Environmental Hygiene
- World Health Organisation
- National Primary Health Care Development Agency
- Medical Research
- Epidemics
- National Agency for Food and Drug Administration (NAFDAC)
- Health matters generally
- Formulation of effective Legislative measures for the prevention and control of HIV/ AIDS
- Encouraging and coordinating measures at research on possible cure for the disease and recommending legislative and budgetary measures in furtherance of same
- Co-ordinating and harmonizing the activities of governmental and nongovernmental agencies on HIV/AIDS generally to ensure effectiveness of the efforts at Aids control, remedy and care for Aids patients
