About the committee
(1) There shall be a Committee to be ,known as Committee on Environment consisting of not more than 40 members appointed at the commencement of the life of the House.
(2) The Committee's jurisdiction shall cover:
- Federal Ministry of Environment
- Control of industrial waste
- Control of toxic waste and other hazardous waste dumping by industrialized nations
- Control of water pollution
- Initiate policy on clean environment for the country
- Environmental Sanitation
- Control of erosion
- Control of desertification
- Geo-seismic destruction
- Environmental matters generally
- Pollution and other environmental matters
- Environmental research and development
