About the committee
(1) There shall be a Committee to be known as Committee on Education consisting of not more than 40 membersappointed at the commencement of the life of the House.
(2) The Committee's jurisdiction shall cover:
- Measures relating to education generally
- Academic research
- External aid for education
- Educational broadcasts
- Oversight over all Parastatals under the Federal Ministry of Education
- Educational library services
- Educational statistics
- Federal scholarship
- Unity schools
- Education tax fund
- Institutions of higher learning
- Vocational and non-formal education
- Regulation of importation of obscene literature and photographs
- Universal Basic Education (UBE)
- Annual Budget Estimate
