About the committee
(1) There shall be a Committee to be known as Committee on Aids, Loans and Debt Management consisting of not more than 40 members appointed during the life of the House.
(2) The Committee's jurisdiction shall cover:
- Formulation of the policy guidelines and laws for borrowing of moneys within and/or outside Nigeria for the purposes of the Federation or of the States.
- Formulation of policies and laws, subject to the conditions of such loans, guiding the verification and payment of all external and internal debts of the country.
- Developing and helping to implement the
strategies for the reduction or cancellation of the
country's external debt burden.
- Internal borrowing.
- Public debt
- Foreign loans; and
- Designing and encouraging regional and international strategies for debt relief or debt cancellation for developing nations.
- Formulation of policies and laws guiding the search for and utilisation of external aids for funding programmes or projects for Federal or State governments.
- Policies and guidelines for the coordination and regulation of the activities of external donor agencies in the country.
- Annual budget estimates
